Science Popularization - Embryo Cloth
1. Embryo fabric (also known as raw fabric) refers to the original state of a fabric that has not undergone dyeing and finishing processing, directly after being taken off the loom. Its characteristics include:
Unbleached, unstained: retains the original color of the fiber (such as beige on cotton, white on polyester, etc.).
May contain impurities such as pulp during spinning, grease, or fiber shavings during weaving.
Hard to the touch: due to lack of softening treatment.
2. Application scenarios of industrial fabric blanks
In the industrial field, embryo cloth is usually used in scenarios where color and appearance requirements are not high, such as:
Filter material: such as industrial filter cloth (requiring subsequent coating or composite processing).
Enhanced substrate: used as the base fabric for coating and waterproof fabrics.
Packaging materials: such as dust covers and strapping for mechanical equipment.
Composite materials: used as the substrate for glass fiber and carbon fiber fabrics.
3. Difference from civilian embryo cloth
Industrial embryo fabric: pays more attention to functionality (such as strength and corrosion resistance), and may use special fibers (such as aramid and high-strength polyester).
Civilian embryo fabric: mostly used for clothing and home textiles, requiring dyeing and printing in the future.
4. Common types of industrial fabrics
Plain/twill fabric: used for basic industrial fabrics.
Canvas embryo fabric: thick and durable, suitable for mechanical packaging.
Non woven fabric: directly used for filtration or insulation.
There are embryo fabrics in industrial fabrics, especially in fields that require subsequent functional processing such as coating and lamination. As a semi-finished product, embryo cloth provides a low-cost and customizable basic material for industrial applications.
